i was looking through the photos on my cell phone the other night. so many pictures from the summertime........i hate to rush time, but seriously, summertime is the best. the best. the best! and i can't wait for it to come around again. flip flops, tank tops, cold beer, days spent at the lake, my mom's awesome deck, pools, beach days, and the hot hot sun.

we have a half hour drive to sparrow's day-care each morning. i recently turned her carseat around to face forward and i have to admit, she is much happier. she notices everything now...... the sun rising, the morning moon, seagulls over the damn. i love that she notices all the small things.

i developed some old film the other day. i think the picture of gypsy was taken in 2008 at the apartment in monroe. the picture of sparrow was taken a couple months ago on a disposable camera (with an extremely bright flash!) i found in my old camera bag.

i'm drinking my homemade kombucha tea as i drive to work! my first batch came out pretty good. i let it brew an extra 3 days - because i was away lying in the sun in south carolina. i think the 3 extra days made the tea a little bit tangier than i'd like it to be..... but my next batch (which i'm currently brewing) will be less tangy and more mild (i hope). Either way this stuff is awesome (and really really healthy). *cheers*

the hurricane came and went leaving us with no power...which means our well pump isn't working and we have no water. who knows when the power will come back on??? thank goodness tomorrow morning, my mom, sparrow, krisitn & i are going to be on a plane to south carolina for a week! it's a girls week. 3 generations of wakeman women. awesome. post when i return :)

this is our house. i don't think i've ever posted a picture of it. the yard is under construction....trees being cut down and soon roy will be digging up the lawn to put in better drainage around the house. we are lacking top soil, so we don't have lush grass (maybe next year we'll have a better yard?). we have about 3,000 tall trees surrounding our property (we have a little over an acre), roy is cutting down as many as he could. fingers crossed that ms. hurricane irene doesn't knock trees down on our roof!

i took this photo right before we got hit with a really intense rain storm. i was sitting in the duchess parking lot eating hotdogs (with bacon!) i was all alone. i was half way home. it was almost sparrow's bedtime. i hoped i would get home before she went to bed. i only saw her for an hour yesterday.

sparrow and i pool hopped this week. monday we spent the day at kim's pool, tuesday was the kiddy pool at grandmas house and wednesday was pop pop's pool. pop pop got sparrow into digging for bugs! the worms made her very happy :)

it was 87 degrees at 8:00am this morning! crazy!

1. this is a pic of my crazy half naked kid going crazy over bubbles.

2. it's hot in connecticut. very hot. finally feels like summertime.

3. we spent the day at lake lillinonah on sunday. i will post pics as soon as my lazy ass uploads them.

4. i finally have internet at home. why does internet cost so much? i'm already almost regretting it.

5. i've been cooking on the grill. i don't know why it scared me so much.....? it's so easy.

6. i have a 4 day weekend coming up and i'm really looking forward to it.

7. sparrow is talking up a storm. she is repeating everything. she said the 'f' word once already. bad mama.

8. i have a slight tan and so does sparrow (i swear i lather her up with sunscreen and she still is getting tan!)

hmmmmmm......i guess that's about it.

we went to the beach on sunday. ofcourse she loved it. i love the sun, the water, the people watching etc...but i don't really enjoy the sand. i never have. sand + a 15 month old = scary times. ! lucky for me sparrow didn't feel like eating it today, but she did get in one really nice sandy eye rub.

sparrow had a blast. so did roy and i (um, the fair served wine! mommy was v. happy). it's so great seeing sparrow in a new environment - she starts out really quiet, she pulls her bottom lip in and bites on it, she doesn't speak or smile. give her just 30 minutes to adjust and she is running around as if she owns the place. that's my girl. man, i seriously dig that little chick.

i got a new phone and it takes pretty cool crappy pictures - and now i can take pics of my sparrow pie all-the-time (as if i don't do that already, right?)..... so this is sparrow in her flower crown at grandma's last night. i had to run over to my mom's house after work because i forgot my wine in her fridge from the night before {drinking wine and watching american idol, fun times! - please, please don't judge me, ok? american idol is totally addicting :) } GO LAUREN!

well over at my house we've all been sick, sick and more sick. my poor little sparrow is finally feeling better this week. is it possible for a baby to have a runny/stuffy nose for 6 months straight? i'm so tired of wiping noses and sparrow is sure tired of me running after her with a tissue. have you ever had a sinus infection and an ear infection at the same time? i have!!!! miserable is the word i would use to explain the past two weeks........oh, we are so ready to welcome the warm weather. summertime, please come fast. we want to play in the grass, wear flip flops, wade in the stream, pick flowers, dig in the sand and sun bathe!

*this photo of sparrow was taken during our sick time. she's got some crazy curly hair....if i don't wet it in the morning it tends to stick straight out on one side :) i even use a little organic mousse to tame those curls.

i walked in to the antique store to check out an old farm table and walked out with this beauty. okay, so i like my furniture beat up and used. is that a bad thing? well, i don't think so. my dad says this was maybe someones tool box. awesome. we don't know how old it is. but it's definitely not new. next on my list, a harvest table to put in our dining room (which sits behind this couch - to the right.) it is so fun filling a house with new things. even if they are only "new to me"
